Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Policy
I. Overview & Scope
American Board of Podiatric Medicine of 1060 Aviation Blvd, Suite 100, Hermosa Beach, California 90254, has established an Anti-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy ("EO"). This EO policy applies to all aspects of the relationship between American Board of Podiatric Medicine and its diplomates or candidates, and between diplomates and candidates of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, and between diplomates and candidates of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and their patients. These policies apply to diplomates and candidates for board certified status, and all ABPM personnel working on the premises listed above. Disciplinary action will be taken against any diplomates or candidate, employee or agent in breach of this policy.
II. Policies
1. DISCRIMINATION. American Board of Podiatric Medicine membership status shall not be denied, restricted, modified, or limited in any way, under any circumstances, without exception, on the basis of race, creed, religion, color, age, disability, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, veteran status, military status, domestic violence victim status, national origin, political affiliation, sex, predisposing genetic characteristics, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, and any other status protected by the law not listed herein.
2. HARRASSMENT. American Board of Podiatric Medicine is committed to providing services to its diplomates and candidates in a manner that is free from harassment, and diplomates and candidates are expected to tender services in a manner that is free from harassment. Any behavior that is unwanted and offensive to the recipient, which creates an intimidating, hostile, or humiliating environment for that person violates American Board of Podiatric Medicine's policy. Harassment can occur between members of the opposite sex or the same sex. Harassment, verbal or non-verbal, explicit or implicit, based on an individual's sex, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion or any other legally protected characteristics will not be tolerated. All diplomates or candidates are required to abide by this policy. No person will be adversely affected in board or candidate status with American Board of Podiatric Medicine as a result of bringing complaints of harassment.
3. SEXUAL HARRASSMENT. Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute harassment when (1) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a condition of board status or provider treatment; (2) submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as a basis for provider treatment decisions; or (3) such conduct has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive provider treatment environment.
4. POLICY IMPLEMENTATION. Implementation of this Policy will be effective as of December 21, 2012.
